"The heroes are as rugged and wild as the landscape."—MAISEY YATES, New York Times bestselling author, for Come Home to Deep River

Small town romance heads to the wilds of New Zealand in the first installment of a brand-new contemporary series by Jackie Ashenden.

  • He's hell-bent on telling her what to do.
  • She's determined to make it on her own.
  • They're both going to learn a thing or two about first impressions.
  • Brightwater Valley, New Zealand, is beautiful, rugged, and home to those who love adventure. But it's also isolated and on the verge of becoming a ghost town.

When the town puts out a call to its sister city of Deep River, Alaska, hoping to entice people to build homes and businesses in Brightwater, ex paratrooper Chase Kelly is all for it. He sees the benefits of building the economy, but only if those who come to Brightwater are ready for its challenges. Former oil executive Isabella Montgomery and her plan to open an art gallery don't seem up to the test. Now Chase is determined to help her learn the ways of his formidable hometown.

Ashenden (Pregnant by the Wrong Prince) pairs a driven Texan businesswoman with a sexy single father in rural New Zealand in this page-turning enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance. Izzy Montgomery is out for a change after her fiancé dumps her and she’s booted from her job—so when her brother mentions an opportunity to work for an adventure tour company in Brightwater Valley, New Zealand, she’s on the next plane. Pure Adventure NZ’s owner Chase Kelly is determined to bring new blood to his tiny town, but he and Izzy and Chase instantly clash—until all the ways they’ve gotten under one another’s skin morphs into untamed passion. But Chase’s wife abandoned him and his 12-year-old daughter, Gus, six years earlier, leaving Chase afraid to believe in Izzy’s commitment to them. If she can’t convince him, their romance may be doomed. Ashenden’s well-shaded hero and heroine force readers to care for them, while Gus steals every scene she’s in. Those who like their heroes alpha to the core will fall in love with this sexy and sweet tale. Agent: Helen Breitwieser, Cornerstone Literary.

When former oil executive Isabella Montgomery replaces the third woman of a trio going to Brightwater, New Zealand, to help revitalize the economy of the small, scenic, but remote and fading, town she is running away from being ditched by her fianc and losing her job. Little does she realize that her three-month commitment will become permanent when she falls in love and into bed with the town's leader, Chase Kelly, an ex-paratrooper with a 13-year-old daughter. Chase, however, does not want anyone to know that they are seeing each other, having been burned by several others in his life. He is also afraid of the effect the small-town gossip might have on his daughter. This entrancing story, the first in Ashenden's Small Town Dream series, is all about how Isabella and Chase manage to overcome these and other barriers, especially his propensity for telling her what to do, and hers for resisting him to do it on her own. It takes a while, but they both learn that being "difficult" has its charms.
