The lore and legends around the underground game known as Rabbits gain new dimensions in The Quiet Room, a twisty tale set in the world of the hit Rabbits podcast.
“Another mind-bending adventure replete with mystery.”—Publishers Weekly

After nearly winning the eleventh iteration of Rabbits, the mysterious alternate reality game so vast it uses the entire world as its canvas, Emily Connors suddenly finds herself trapped in a dimensional stream where the game does not exist. At all. Except . . . why do sinister figures show up to stop her every time she goes looking? Does Rabbits truly not exist, or is it being hidden? And if it’s being hidden, why—and by whom?
Meanwhile, architect and theme park designer Rowan Chess is having the weirdest month of his life, full of odd coincidences and people who appear one moment and vanish the next, with no trace they ever even existed. The game that is hiding from Emily seems to have found Rowan—with a vengeance.
But only when Rowan and Emily meet do things start to get dangerous, for together they uncover a conspiracy far deeper and deadlier than either of them expected—one that could forever change the nature not only of the game, but of reality itself.

The high-stakes, top secret alternate reality scavenger hunt known as Rabbits returns in this exhilarating sequel to Miles’s Rabbits, based on his podcast of the same name. This time, the game has a mind of its own—and the dangerous decisions it’s making for itself could destroy the multiverse. Theme park designer Rowan Chess tries online dating and believes he’s found someone special—until she disappears without a trace. In her wake, Rowan finds the words “The Door Is Open.” Returning readers will recognize this as the opening of a new round of Rabbits—but clueless Rowan never signed up to play. Help comes in the form of Emily Connors, a veteran player who just entered Rowan’s dimension in search of the current iteration of the game. As clues and weirdness both accumulate, this unlikely duo learns that Rabbits is protecting itself from a shadowy figure called The Engineer—and to do so, it intends to cut Rowan and Emily’s dimensional stream off from all others, wiping all of its inhabitants out of existence. Their only hope is to find the Quiet Room, a space that supposedly connects each dimension, though it’s generally believed to be a myth. The result is another mind-bending adventure replete with mystery and welcome cameos from familiar faces. Series fans will not be disappointed. Agent: Marc Gerald, UTA.

The game Rabbits, and the multiverse it uses as its canvas, is a conspiracy theorist's dream as it toys with the lives of its players. Emily Cooper, one of the players in the first book of Miles's series, finds herself in another branch of the multiverse, desperately searching for the latest iteration of the game and the way back home. Emily is on the run from the novel's first page, with no way in and seemingly no way out to save herself or the multiverse that Rabbits is supposed to be protecting--unless it's been lying to her all along. This sequel both raises the stakes and expands the universe of this time-slipping, universe-spanning, conspiracy-choked game realm, as Emily never knows whether she's saving the world or ending it or whether anything she's found, including the love of her life, will still exist on the other side of the dimensional gate. VERDICT Readers who loved the first book in the series, Rabbits, will be caught up in the wild goose chase aspects of this technothriller, but those looking for more straightforward storytelling may be less than thrilled.--Marlene Harris
